Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use the posture corrector?
Our postures are designed to be comfortable, adjustable and easy to wear. You simply place the posture corrector on your back and slip your arms into the straps, as if putting a backpack on your back. Grab the loose straps and pull them in front of your in a tight upward motion towards your head. As your are tightening the posture corrector, arrange the straps under your armpits so that they feel comfortable and you are able to maintain a range of motion, but so it still firm. Lastly, attach the velcro straps to the posture corrector to secure it in place.
All our posture correctors come with a user guide which gives a simple step-by-step guide on how to wear your posture corrector.
How long should you wear your posture corrector for?
The rule of thumb is that the longer you wear your posture corrector for, the more benefit you will derive from it. However, the length of time that you need to wear your posture corrector will depend on your current posture issues and the strength of your back and shoulder muscles.
The general recommendation is to wear your posture corrector for 30 minutes to one hour every day. Consistency and discipline is key to improved posture. As your posture improves over time, you may notice that you don’t need to wear your posture corrector for as long or as frequently.
It is important to be aware that wearing your posture corrector for extended periods of time may result in core muscle weakness, as your muscles may become used to and rely upon the external support provided by a posture corrector. Our posture correctors are designed to strengthen your muscles in their correct alignment, which encourages improved posture over the long term. It is therefore important to train your upper back and shoulder muscles the way you would any others: with small intervals of training each day. Your Posture Place posture corrector is designed to be effective if worn even for only 30 minutes every day.Â
What should I do if I experience any discomfort?
It is normal to experience slight discomfort the first few times you wear your posture corrector. Our posture corrector is designed to activate the muscles in your upper back and shoulders that are normally not used or trained.
However, we recommend removing your posture corrector when you begin to experience any discomfort. If the discomfort persists for more than a few days, please consult your GP, physiotherapist or physical therapist.
